Warner/Chappell Songwriters Celebrated at the ASCAP and BMI Latin Music Awards

Warner/Chappell songwriters were recently celebrated at the ASCAP and BMI Latin Music Awards for creating many of Latin music’s most popular and influential songs.

The incredibly talented Silverio Lozada received ASCAP’s Song of the Year award for co-writing Enrique Iglesias’ international smash hit, “Duele El Corazon.” The song debuted at No. 1 on the Latin Airplay Chart and, according to Billboard, earned the highest single-week audience for a song since 2008 with 18.6 million listeners. The song proceeded to top charts in 13 countries around the world, and earned the No. 1 spot on Spain’s Year-End Chart.

The songwriting duo of Sky and Bull Nene rounded out their banner year by taking home four of ASCAP’s Most Performed Song awards for their work on Zion & Lennox’s “Otra Vez” featuring J Balvin, Juanes’ “Fuego," and J Balvin’s “Ginza” and “Bobo.” It’s worth noting that all four of these songs went to No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart.

Other ASCAP Most Performed Song award winners include legendary Mexican rock band Maná for “De Pies A Cabeza" and “Ironia,” Jesse & Joy and Tommy Torres for “No Soy Una De Esas” featuring Alejandro Sanz, Jacob Forever for “Hasta Que Se Seque El Malecón”, Juan Jesus Santana Lugo for Zion & Lennox’s “Ganas de Ti”, and Mauricio Rengifo, Maria Agudelo & Pablo Uribe for Thalía’s “Desde Esa Noche.”

At the BMI Latin Awards, multiple Warner/Chappell compositions were named Award Winning Songs, including Ricky Martin’s “Disparo al Corazon" by Pedro Capo, Wisin’s “Si Lo Hacemos Bien” by Norgie Noriega, and Prince Royce’s “Solita” by Mickey Then.

Congratulations to each of our amazing songwriters!
